The Giver is a dystopian fiction story about a boy named Jonas. In his society, man are unable to see colors and are given jobs by the government. Jonas, being special, has the ability to see colors, gradually seeing more as time goes on. He gets chosen to work with a man called The Giver, who teaches him about the world around him: colors, land, etc. Jonas learns that his world is bad and decides to leave, ending the book as he bikes out of town with his sister.
