Please help .... Jeff is traveling from Atlanta to Columbia and then to Charleston. He decides to plot the cities on a coordinat

e plane. He puts Atlanta at (0, 0), Columbia at (21, 0) and Charleston at (24, -11). He lets each tick mark represent 10 miles. Which formula would correctly solve for the distance from Columbia to Charleston?
A) √24² + (-11)²

B) √24² - 11²

C) √3² + (-11)²

D) √3² - 11²

Answer:

The answer is C

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the Pythagoras theorem which states that a2 = b2 + c 2

For easier understanding imagine a straight line along the x axis. At (0,0) we have Atlanta. Moving 21 units to our right we have Columbia. This is represented on the coordinate system by (21, 0). To go from Colombia to Charleston, which is located at (24, -11), we need to travel 3 units right along the x- axis to reach ‘24’ and ‘11’ units down along the y- axis to reach (24, -11). Starting from Colombia we can make an imaginary triangle with its perpendicular being the y- component and its base being the x- component, which as we have stated above is ‘-11’ and ‘3’ respectively

Now applying the Pythagoras theorem to calculate the hypothesis and hence the distance between Colombia and Charleston.

a, which represents the distance between Colombia and Charleston would be

a² = b² + c²

a² = (3)² + (-11)²

a = √[(3)² + (-11)²]

Hence the answer is C

Lucy rolls 2 fair dice and adds the results from each.
stellarik [79]

Answer:

The probability is 7/36

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, we are tasked with calculating the probability that when we roll two fair dice, the sum of two numbers on both dies equal to 5.

Before we go on answering the question, we need to know the number of elements in our sample space. What this means is that we need to know the number of results we can have. The total number of results we can have is 6 * 6 = 36

Now, the next thing to know is how many of our results would yield a multiple of 5 each. Now let’s look at the attachment for the tabular representation we have.

Now, looking at our table, we can see that we have 7 circled results where we have a possibility of a multiple of 5.

The probability is thus the number of these additions divided by the total number of outputs= 7/36

Two families are vacationing together, driving in separate cars. The Harris family averages 40 mph, leaving Hometown 12 minutes
andrey2020 [161]
I believe, if I'm not correct but I think the answer would be 8 minutes or less.. Considering the fact that the Harris Family left 12 minutes ahead and the Arlen family is Averaging 55 MPH.. Too the speed that the Arlen's are going make the time for them to catch up to the harris's shorter. The Arlen's are going 15 mph faster sooo.. Yeah.. Tell em if this helps! :D
