Mary needs to make the recipe 2 1/2 times. Half of 1 1/2 cups is 3/4. 3/4 + 1 1/2 =2 1/4 cups. 2 1/4 + 1 1/2 = 3 3/4 cups. Mary does have enough, and with 1/4 cup left over.
