The major causes of World War 1 were aggressive nationalism, economic competition, imperialism. militarism, and an arms race. Economic competition is a major cause of World War 1 because Germany was growing in its economy. Germany felt that they were not getting enough respect and that they needed to pay attention to Russia and the threats they would pose to Germany. Another important cause of World War 1 is imperialism because European nations became divided which started conflicts. Ties with Germany, France, and Britain were strengthened, and Germany had gained more territory. Militarism became another factor in starting World War 1 because as policies and international problems rising, the nations of Europe began to build up their armies. Britain and Germany were rivals in their navy. Britain had the best navy and Germany was beginning to build up its own navy. Militarism also went hand-in-hand with the arms race. Civilian governments turned to military leaders for advice and the forces of Europe grew. Because of this, tensions continued to arise. Nationalism was also a main cause for World War 1 and caused the most tension in Europe. Nationalism was strong in Germany and France, and Russia had a moral that stated that all Slavic people should be protected because they share a common nationality with Russia. There were also countries that were threatened by nationalism, like Austria-Hungary, and Ottoman-Turkey. These countries were scared of territory being taken away.

The main cause was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand who was the archduke of Austria. He was assassinated by Gavriollo Princip who was Austrian - Hungarian. Those two countries were constantly in conflict because Hungary wanted to separate and once those countries went into war over the assassination their allies had to join being the rest of Europe.   <span />

Compare and contrast the landscapes of ancient Greece and Italy
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

Italy's landscape was more varied and had much more potential, while Greece's landscape was monotonous and had little potential.

Explanation:

The landscapes of ancient Italy and ancient Greece differed a lot. Even though both areas are part of the Mediterranean region, the differences were very big, with Italy being much better suited for big development and progress while Greece was very limited.

Italy's landscape had everything from fertile plains, to wave lowlands, hillsides, and high mountains. There were areas dominated by forests, grasses, and shrubs, and some more typically Mediterranean in their appearance. Italy's landscape was very well suited for large-scale production of agricultural goods but also there were numerous natural resources as well.

Greece's landscape was very monotonous, being dominated by hills and mountains covered with Mediterranean flora. The soil was not of good quality and there were only very few cultures that can be grown, which is why a big portion of the population engaged in herding animals such as goats and sheep. The area was also poor in natural resources and it had very little potential for the creation of an empire.

It definitely would not be the first answer! The other two answers I can see why someone would get stumped on. I believe it's C, when your talking about a decade you don't add a apostrophe. Hopefully this helps xx
