Mitosis is the process by which cells duplicate.
Meiosis is a similar process which is just used to make reproductive cells such as eggs or sperm.

In mitosis, the cell DNA arranges into 46 chromosomes, duplicates, and then divides into two new cells.
In meiosis, the same duplication occurrs except four cells are created, each with only 23 chromosomes. (You know how you get half of them from each parent? This is so that the offspring have genetic variation.)

Another thing to notice about meiosis is that the cells are not identical like in mitosis, which simply duplicates them. Furthermore, in males all four sex cells are used as sperm but in females only one of these cells develops into an egg whereas the rest, called polar bodies, are reabsorbed into the body.

Answer & explanation:

The main differences between the processes are that mitosis occurs in somatic cells (diploid cells that give rise to organs and tissues), and meiosis occurs in germ cells (cells that give rise to gametes).

In meiosis, only one cell division occurs, in which two daughter cells are produced. These daughter cells have the same number of chromosomes as the mother cell (46 choromosomes).

Mitosis, in turn, has two cell divisions, and four daughter cells are produced, which have half the amount of chromosomes in the mother cell (23 chromosomes).

spin [16.1K]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Humans all around the world has a body temperature similar, humans like all the mammals are endothermic (the body temperature is regulated for itself) animals, this means that our temperature doesn't change according to the climate.

Also the flow of the blood in our body changes according to the heart rate, while more bits per second our heart does, more blood flows in our extremities.

So it's false that human evolved in colder have more blood flowing into their extremities, and at a hotter temperature, than people living in warmer climates.

Who Viewed moving objects from pond water under his microscope and named them “animalcules
MatroZZZ [7]

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek viewed moving objects from pond water under his microscope and named them “animalcules.

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek was a scientist and the first microscopist to observe protozoa and bacteria. He created microscopes that possess a single high-quality lens of small focal length and isolated tiny animalcules (microbes) from various sources such as pond water, well water and rain water. Through his experiments, he also calculated the sizes of the animalcules.

Explain using an example how a new species of organisms can evolve?
gtnhenbr [62]

Answer:

New species form by speciation, in which an ancestral population splits into two or more genetically distinct descendant populations. Speciation involves reproductive isolation of groups within the original population and accumulation of genetic differences between the two groups

Hope it helps :)
