Yes they are the same value because the 4 is in the tenths place in bother decimals. 0.4 is just a shortened way of writing 0.40.

They are both equal since 0.4 is just 0.40 without a 0 because you can add as many 0 at the end of a decimal but it still won't matter. For example 0.5000 would just be 0.5 because those 0 don't mater. if the 0 is in the middle of a decimal like 0.709 than the 0 between the 7 and 9 would matter because there is a number after it

Simplify this expression.<br> 20.25 – 9 + 11<br> о<br> 1<br> 4<br> 0 18.75<br> 0<br> 21?<br> 0 40.75
Greeley [361]

Answer:

21\frac{3}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Add the numbers.

20.25 can also be expressed as 20\frac{1}{4}, because \frac{2025}{100} = \frac{81}{4} = 20\frac{1}{4}. So if we add 20\frac{1}{4} and 11, we would get 31\frac{1}{4}

Step 2: Solve

31\frac{1}{4} -9\frac{1}{2}

  • Subtract the whole numbers

31-9=21

  • Combine the fractions

This means addition. Also, since our denominators are not the same value, we have to find the LCM (Least Common Denominator): What do 2 and 4 have in common that they can divide themselves by? 4. We know this because 2 divided by 4 is 2, and 4 divided by 4 is 1, so they can both divide themselves by 4.

\frac{5}{4}-\frac{1}{2}

LCM

\frac{5}{4}-\frac{2}{4} =\frac{3}{4}

Therefore, the simplified expression to this is 21\frac{3}{4}.

Goryan [66]

Following order of operations:

3^2 = 9

(10-2) = 8

Now you have :

9 + 8 x 5 -4

Multiplication is next:

9 + 40 -4

Now just add and subtract from left to right:

9 + 40 = 49

49-4 = 45

The answer is 45
