The sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 69. What are the three numbers?
n200080 [17]

Answer:

21, 23, 25

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok, so this one may seem a little tricky, so I'll try to explain it as best as I can. :)

So because they are consecutive odd numbers, that means they are odd numbers that are one after the other. This means each number is 2 apart from the next. So by using this, we know that there is a difference of 6 between the highest and lowest number. Now let's try and make an equation:

3o + 6 = 69

Now in order to get O by itself we have to subtract 6 from both sides:

3o = 63

Now we just have to divide by three on both sides:

o = 21

So now, we know that the lowest number is 21, but we have to add 2 to get 23, and then another 2 to get 25.

Hope this helps :)

The population of Detroit, Michigan, decreased from 1,027,974 in 1990 to 688,701 in 2013 (Source: U.S. Census Bureau). Find the
AleksandrR [38]

the slope goes by several names

• average rate of change

• rate of change

• deltaY over deltaX

• Δy over Δx

• rise over run

• gradient

• constant of proportionality

however, is the same cat wearing different costumes.

to get the slope of any straight line, we simply need two points off of it, so let's use the ones provided in that

\begin{array}{|cc|ll} \cline{1-2} \stackrel{years}{x}&\stackrel{population}{y}\\ \cline{1-2} 1990&1027974\\ 2013&688701\\ \cline{1-2} \end{array}\hspace{5em} (\stackrel{x_1}{1990}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{1027974})\qquad (\stackrel{x_2}{2013}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{688701}) \\\\\\ \stackrel{slope}{m}\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{rise} {\stackrel{y_2}{688701}-\stackrel{y1}{1027974}}}{\underset{run} {\underset{x_2}{2013}-\underset{x_1}{1990}}} \implies \cfrac{-339273}{23}\implies -14751\qquad \stackrel{rate~of}{change}

let's notice, is negative since the population decreased.

Write 9x-3y=-69 x − 3 y = − 6 in slope-intercept form. Make sure you show all steps and inverse operations.Write 9x-3y=-69 x − 3
Goryan [66]

Answer:

y = 3x + 23 and

y = \frac{1}{3}x + 2

Step-by-step explanation:

The first equation is 9x - 3y = - 69 and we have to write it in slope-intercept form.

Now, 9x - 3y = - 69

⇒ 3x - y = - 23 {Dividing both sides by 3}

⇒ 3x + 23 = y

⇒ y = 3x + 23 {Interchanging the sides} (Answer)

The second equation is x - 3y = - 6 and we have to write it in slope-intercept form.

Now, x - 3y = - 6

⇒ x + 6 = 3y

⇒ 3y = x + 6 {Interchanging the sides}

⇒ y = \frac{1}{3}(x + 6) {Dividing both sides by 3}

⇒ y = \frac{1}{3}x + 2 (Answer)
