How to find area of parallelogram with coordinates of verticles?
ExtremeBDS [4]
You find a parallelogram area by this formula:
A=b\cdot h
Where b is its base and h, its height.
You get b's value applying distance between two points formula.
If A and B points form the base:
A(x_1,y_1)\;\;\;\;B(x_2,y_2) \\  \\
d_{AB}= \sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2} =b

And h is the perpendicular distance between both bases.
You can visit next link to know further about it:

And in attached picture you can find an example in progress you may want to finish.

Does this graph show a function? Explain how you know.
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer: D) No. The graph fails the vertical line test.

Explanation:

We are able to draw a single vertical line that passes through more than one point on the red curve. For example, we could draw a vertical line through x = 5 and have it cross the red curve at (5,4) and (5,-4).

So this is one example where the graph fails the vertical line test. It passes this test when such a thing doesn't happen. In other words, a function is only possible if any x input leads to exactly one and only one y output.

In this case, x = 5 leads to multiple outputs y = 4 and y = -4 at the same time. There are other x values which this occurs as well (any x values such that x > 1). So this is why we don't have a function.

The figure shown is an equilateral triangle. Calculate the length of each side and give your answer in cm.
cricket20 [7]
Given at you have an equilateral triangle, all sides have the same length.

Therefore,
First side 2x-7 = Second side x+y-9 = Third side y+5

Let us look at the second and third sides for now:
x+y-9 = y+5
x = y+5 - (y-9)
x = y-y+5+9
x = 14

Then we look at equating the first and third sides:
2x-7 = y+5
y = 2x-7-5

Substitute x =14 in the equation above:
y = 2(14)-7-5
= 28-7-5
= 21-5
= 16

The length of the third side is:
y+5 = 16 +5 = 21

Given that the length of each sides are the same in an equilateral triangle, all sides have the length 21cm.
