Answer:

A. The equation is y = 2 + 3x

B.  38 years

Step-by-step explanation:

A)

From the question it says; you are x years old.

Let y be your uncles age

Then since your uncle is 2 years older than 3 times your age, the mathematical interpretation of this statement is;

y  =   2  +   3x

B)

The B part of the question states:  'you are 12 years old, how old is your uncle'?

To solve this problem, we will simply the equation in question A to solve

y = 2 +  3x

From the 'A' part of the question, your uncle' age is y and your age is x, since your age is now 12, this implies x= 12 so we substitute x= 12 in the above equation

y = 2 + 3(12)

y = 2 + 36

y = 38

Therefore your uncle's age is 38 years when you are 12 years old.

If you are x years old, then three times your age is x*3, or 3x. the problem then states that your uncle is 2 years older than that, so then answer leads to 3x+2. If you are 12, substitute that into the equation (x), so 3(12)+2. 3*12=36, 36+2=38. Your uncle is 38 years old if you are 12.

Determine if the relation is a function if so state the domain and range
Sedaia [141]

Answer:

Function - Yes

Domain - [-3,0,3,4]

Range - [1,2,2,5]

Step-by-step explanation:

In a function, x-values cannot repeat and in this relation, x's do not repeat, therefore it is a function. The domain is the x-values on the graph from least to greatest; so to find the domain, simply take the first value of each coordinate and order them from least to greatest. Then, the range is the y-values, so to find the range take the second value from each coordinate and order them from least to greatest.
