Answer:

Topogenic sequences share a series of structural features, and thereby computational algorithms can be used to predict these protein-membrane segments

Explanation:

Topogenic sequences are protein segments formed by alpha-helical transmembrane domains, which are required for the insertion of membrane proteins. These domains share a series of well-defined features: they are composed of segments of about 20 hydrophobic amino-acid residues. In consequence, computational algorithms can be designed to identify protein patterns that fulfill these structural requirements (i.e. segments with a length of 20 residues, hydrophobic level, etc). The models assign a similarity threshold (threshold value) that predict if the similarity level of the protein pattern is good enough to detect a topogenic segment.

Why do metamorphic rocks rarely contain fossils?
zaharov [31]

Answer:

Hm.

Explanation:

Igneous rocks form from molten rock, and rarely have fossils in them. ... Metamorphic rocks have been put under great pressure, heated, squashed, or stretched, and fossils do not usually survive these extreme conditions. Generally, it is only sedimentary rocks that contain fossils.

So the answer is C.

Volcanoes are often formed at plate boundaries. This is a convergent plate boundary. From the choices listed, pick the correct d
USPshnik [31]

Answer;

D) The more dense oceanic plate subducts under the less dense continental plate. Subducted plate melts due to heat and friction. Melted plate, now magma, rises up to the surface.

Explanation;

 • Volcanoes may be formed at convergent plate boundaries or at divergent plate boundaries.
 • When two tectonic plates collide, they form a convergent plate boundary. Normally, one of the converging plates that is the dense oceanic plate will move beneath the other, which is the less dense continental plate a process as subduction.
 • The friction between the plates in the subduction zone as a result of constant movement, melts the Earth's crust causing the underneath rocks to turn into magma.
 • The magma creates great pressure and rises towards the surface of the earth, and on reaching the surface it is called lava, and a volcano is formed.
