Let x be the number of transfers accepted by Adams High.

The number of transfers accepted by Jackson high school is 11 more than Adams High's, so it's x+11

The two schools, combined, accepted x+x+11=2x+11 transfers. We know that this number is 123, so we have

2x+11=123 \iff 2x = 112 \iff x = 56

So, Adams High accepted 56 transfers, and Jackson high school accepted 56 + 11 = 67 transfers

Tina has 1/4 of a cake. He divides it between his 6 friends. How much of the whole cake will each friend get?
klemol [59]
As Tina only has 1/4 of a cake. For simplicity sake we can do the calculation with a whole cake and then multiply by four!

First it is stated that cake is divided into six pieces, giving us our first number.
So,

6 x 4 = 24

This means that each friend will get 1/24th of the whole cake.
