Colon visited several islands on his journey.

Canary Islands: ( formed by volcanic eruptions. Highest elevation 12,198 feet. Subtropical climate.

San Salvador Island: very flat and with very green trees were his words, with a surrounding reef and lake in the middle.

Cuba: formed by bays, keys, reefs and islets. Known as the "Pearl of the Antilles".

Santa Maria Island: generally flat, however, it gets hilly towards the norht
