Ancient Mesopotamia's ideas laid a foundation for learning in the Mediterranean world.

Explanation

Every civilization is born near a water body. Similarly, Mesopotamia in Western Asia situated near Tigris-Euphrates river system give birth to ideas.

These revolutionary ideas form Neolithic Revolution. This is where many urban centers rise.

Therefore Mesopotamia is known as 'Cradle of Civilization'.

This place is also known for the invention of writing along with Egypt, India and China.

This era saw developments in medicine, literature, astronomy, science and mathematics.

The main civilization that influenced formal collective learning system  in the Mediterranean region was the Greece civilization which had academies. The collective learning systems was taken over by ancient Rome which succeeded the Greece empire. Several Greece philosophers had academies where they tutored children of the ruling class.
