Answer:

A dominant gene is a type of gene which dominates in the inheritance pattern and masks the other one, on the other hand, a recessive gene is that which does not show its trait in inheritance pattern and hidden by the dominant one. A dominant gene is stronger gene while the recessive gene is a week gene. Dominant gene is always expressed in the upper case letters like A, F, V whereas recessive gene is always denoted by the lower case letters like a, f and v. dominant gene show in the inheritance when one of the two genes is dominant but in case of recessive gene both the genes of a trait should be recessive.

Traits you get from your parents. Inherited features evolve due to genetic material rearrangement and mutation. The parents transfer those traits (inherited) to their offspring. These aren't dying but passed on to the next generation. Example: earlobe attached or free, and curly hair.

An acquired characteristic is a non-heritable change in a function or structure of a living organism caused after birth by disease, injury, accident, deliberate modification, variation, repeated use, disuse, misuse, or other environmental influence. Acquired traits are synonymous with acquired characteristics. They are not passed on to offspring through reproduction.

Temperate environments have some of the best soils in the world, even compared to tropical soils. The reason is
Inessa [10]

Temperate environment have the best soil in the world because of higher nutrient levels.

What is soil?

Soil is the topmost layer of the earth on which plants grow.

Types of soil include:

 • loamy soil
 • sandy soil
 • clayey soil

The best soil for plant growth is loamy soil because it contains the most nutrients.

Drag each label to the correct location on the image.
ratelena [41]

Answer:

The offsprings of this punnet square will be Dd, Dd, dd and dd in a ratio 1Dd : 1dd

See attached image for punnet square completion

Explanation:

This question involves a cross involving a single gene with alleles D and d where allele D is dominant over allele d i.e. D will mask the phenotypic expression of d in a heterozygous state.

This cross is between a heterozygous parent (Dd) and a homozygous recessive parent (dd). Parent Dd will produce gametes D and d while parent dd will produce gametes d and d.

Using these gametes in a punnet square, four possible offsprings with two distinct genotypes will be produced. The genotypes are: Dd and dd in a ratio 1:1

Hence, the possibility of having a heterozygous dominant offspring is 1/2 while the possibility of having a homozygous recessive offspring is also 1/2.

Select the correct match. Two plants in the same family are in the same _______. If two plants are in the same order, are they i
stellarik [79]

Answer:

The correct answers are "order; no; order; plant species A and plant species B".

Explanation:

Species are categorized in different taxonomic ranks according to physical and genetic features that establish the degree of similarity between species. For instance, two species that are in the same order have a more recent common ancestor than two species that have the same class. Also, two species that have the same genus share the other taxonomic ranks that are in an upper section. In this case, two plants in the same family are in the same order (the next taxonomic rank) however, two plants that are in the same order not necessary are in the same family.

What is selective permeability? Why is it important to cells?
Aliun [14]
Selective permeability is the cell wall being particular about what they let in and out of the cell. It is important because if the cell just let any old molecule inside, it would be letting potentially harmful things in.
