once you multiply the polynomial on the right side by negative one then you can just add it to the one on the left, you add the ones with the same power of x to each other like 4x and 8x add to 12 x, hope that helps!

An item was bought for £50. It was sold for £32. What was the percentage loss?
kumpel [21]

Answer:

36% loss

Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate percentage loss

\frac{loss}{original} × 100%

loss = £50 - £32 = £18, then

percentage loss = \frac{18}{50} × 100% = 18 × 2 % = 36%

For the given pair of events A and B, complete parts (a) and (b) below. A: When a page is randomly selected and ripped from
Kitty [74]

Answer:

The two events are dependent.

the probability that events A and B both occur is:

\frac{1}{2424}\times \frac{1}{2423}=1.7026052585\times 10^{-7}\ or\ 0.00000017

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

Event A: When a page is randomly selected and ripped from a 2424-page document and destroyed, it is page 2020.

Event B: When a different page is randomly selected and ripped from the document, it is page 1616.

Part(A)

The occurring of one event affects the probability of the other event.

Because if we ripped one page then the probability of ripping second page will going to change as the size of sample space will decrease.

For example: The document has 2424 page, that means size of sample space is 2424. If we ripped another page, the sample size will be 2423. That means event B is depending on event A.

Thus, the two events are dependent.

Part(B)

The probability that events A and B both occur.

If we select a page randomly from 2424-page document, the probability will be: 1/2424

Now we have 2423 pages left in the document as one page is destroyed.

The probability of selecting another page is: 1/2423.

Thus, the probability that events A and B both occur is:

\frac{1}{2424}\times \frac{1}{2423}=1.7026052585\times 10^{-7}\ or\ 0.00000017

paul a dentist determined that the number of cavities that develops in his patients mouth each year varies inversely to the numb
alex41 [277]

Answer:

Lori will have 1 cavity if she brushed for 120\ sec each night.

Step-by-step explanation:

As the question suggests cavities developed varies inversely with the number of seconds spent on brushing.

Lets take the terms as c=\frac{k}{t},where k is the constant of proportionality.

And

c = Number of cavities developed each year

t = Number of minutes spent on brushing per night

Now we will plugging the values of the given terms and find the value of k,for this we can re-arrange it as...k=c\times( t)

t=30\ sec=\frac{30}{60} =0.5\ min and c=4

k=0.5\times 4=2

Now as Lori will increase her brushing time so as the cavity will decrease.

So for this we have been given,t=120\ sec=\frac{120}{60} = 2\ min and k=2.

As c=\frac{k}{t} =\frac{2}{2} =1

So as per Paul's observation if Lori brushed for 2\ mins at night she will have 1 cavity on that year.

Please solve this fast late night homework session and I need to get as much done as possible...
aksik [14]

Answer:

-4

Step-by-step explanation:

4x+3y=-1

3x + y=-7

Solve for Y

3x+y=-7

-3x.      -3x

y= -3x - 7

Plug in Y into the top equation

4x + 3 (-3x - 7) = -1

Distribute the Parenthesis

4x -9x-21=-1

Combine Like terms

-5x = 20

Divide by -5 on both sides

20/-5

x = -4
