There are two possible answers. The first one is B - because Hobbits have this culture or habit of not actually knowing themselves, thinking that they hate adventures and love staying in the same place for the rest of their lives. As it turns out, Bilbo loves adventures - but he wasn't aware of it, and actually tried to convince himself that he doesn't because he was raised to think that way. D is also a possibility - because dwarves care about their gold and when they lost it, they had to get it back. The dwarves are known for being rich and keeping a lot of gold in their mines.
