What is meant by popular sovereignty and why was it important?

Social Studies

Popular sovereignty is the idea that people should rule over themselves and that any people who have more power (presidents, prime ministers) only do so as representatives of the people and with the consent of the people.

It's important because it ensures that people can express their needs and organize their country to cater to those needs and not to only cater to the needs of the elite or one ruler.

Identify four reasons for the rapid population growth of the world over the past hundred years. decline in infant mortality incr
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

- decline in infant mortality

- increased life expectancy

- better health care

- more knowledge about diseases

Explanation:

Over the past one hundred years the global population exploded, experiencing rapid growth. This mostly happened after the end of the World War II. There a re multiple reasons why this has happened, like lack of major wars, improvements in the medical field, improvements in the technology, better living conditions etc. The improvements in the medical field seem to be the detrimental factor, as it managed to significantly reduce the number of infant deaths, the diseases started to be regulated or eliminated, and it contributed to much better quality of life for the people, as well as prolonging their lives by almost twice more.

balu736 [363]
One of Paine's main arguments as to why it is important for America to exercise its right for independence is that it's impractical for such a large piece of territory to be governed by a small island. This of course was greatly inspirational for other colonies.
