1) The number must be greater than at least 14. This is because the limit is 14 years older.

let Ishaan = y, Christopher = x. Set the system of equation

y = 3x

y = x + 14

Set the two equations equal to each other

3x = x + 14

Simplify. Note the equal sign, what you do to one side, you do to the other. Isolate the variable

3x (-x) = x (-x) + 14

3x - x = 14

2x = 14

(2x)/2 = (14)/2

x = 14/2

x = 7

Christopher is 7 years old, Ishaan is 21 years old.

Check:

7 x 3 = 21 (True)

7 + 14 = 21 (True)

If Ishaan is 3 times as old, their difference in ages is 2 times Christopher's age. Thus, Christopher's age is 14/2 = 7.

Solve using any method. −2x+y=−3 x+y=3 ( 5, 2) ( 1, 2) ( 2, 5) ( 2, 1)
nignag [31]

Answer:

Therefore the solution set is (x , y) = ( 2 , 1 )

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

-2x+y=-3  ...............Equation ( 1 )

x+y=3\\  ...............Equation ( 2 )

\therefore y=3-x     ...............Equation ( 3 )

To Find:

x = ?

y = ?

Solution:

Using Substitution Method we will have

Substitute  above ' y ' Equation 3 in Equation 1 we get

-2x+(3-x)=-3\\-2x-x=-3-3\\-3x=-6\\3x=6\\x=\dfrac{6}{3}=2\\\\x=2

Now Substitute ' x ' in Equation 3 we get

y=3-2=1\\y=1

Therefore the solution set is (x , y) = ( 2 , 1 )

What is the area of rectangle RSTU? Show step by step!
pickupchik [31]

Step-by-step explanation:

We only know 1 side, and that is the width of 4. We only have the diagonals at our side. Half of the diagonal is 5. As a result, the diagonal is 10. I want you to imagine a triangle that has a base of 4 and a hypotenuse of 10. Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find b, or the height.

a² + b² = c²

4² + b² = 10²

16 + b² = 100

100 - 16 = 84

b² = 84

b = √84

b ≈ 9.165

Now we know the length of the rectangle, which is about 9.165. Multiply that by 4 to get the area.

9.165 * 4

36 + 0.4 + 0.24 + 0.020

36.4 + 0.24 + 0.02

36.64 + 0.02

36.66 u²

The area of rectangle RSTU is about 36.66 units squared.

What is the slope of the line whose equation is 5y + 6x - 2 = 0
koban [17]
All you need to do to find the slope here is put it into y = mx + b format.

5y + 6x - 2 = 0

the goal is to get the y alone, so...

5y = 2 - 6x

divide both sides by 5

y = 2/5 - (6/5)x

then, just to be clearer for y = mx + b ...... y = (-6/5)x + (2/5)

the slope should be (-6/5)
