(50 POINTS) A group of workers is harvesting berries at a constant rate. An equation that represents the number of baskets of be

rries the workers picked over a period of time, in hours, is y = 5x + 10.
(a) What are the slope and the y-intercept for the equation that represents the number of baskets of berries the workers picked over a period of time?
(b) What are the rate of change and the initial amount? Explain the meaning of the rate of change and the initial amount for the situation.

Hi There!

Follow y = mx + b

m = slope

b = y intercept

(a) What are the slope and the y-intercept for the equation that represents the number of baskets of berries the workers picked over a period of time?

Slope = 5

Y intercept = 10

(b) What are the rate of change and the initial amount? Explain the meaning of the rate of change and the initial amount for the situation.

The rate of change is how much it takes for the amoun to change. The initial amount should be going up with a slope of 5 each time.

(c) Use graph paper to draw a graph representing the situation. Label the axes appropriately.

Start at the origin than continue with a slope of 5 and make sure the y intercept is correctly graphed.

A) y = 5x + 10

B) y    number of baskets of berries

x    time in hours during which the group picked berries

5    the slope, meaning 5 baskets per hour

10   Initial number of baskets of berries - no reason is determined from the description.

What are the leading coefficient and degree of the polynomial?
MissTica

Answer:

  • leading coefficient: 2
  • degree: 7

Step-by-step explanation:

The degree of a term with one variable is the exponent of the variable. The degrees of the terms (in the same order) are ...

  6, 0, 7, 1

The highest-degree term is 2x^7. Its coefficient is the "leading" coefficient, because it appears first when the polynomial terms are written in decreasing order of their degree:

  2x^7 -7x^6 -18x -4

The leading coefficient is 2; the degree is 7.

__

<em>Additional comment</em>

When a term has more than one variable, its degree is the sum of the exponents of the variables. The term xy, for example, is degree 2.

Need some help with this question in the image<br><br>Cheers
iren [92.7K]

Step-by-step explanation:

a) 24.7×52.3=1291.81

On rounding off to 3 significant digits we get

1290

b)

\sqrt{ {42}^{2} -  {28}^{2}  }

\sqrt{1764 -784 }  =  \sqrt{980}

=31.304951

On rounding off to 5 significant figures we get

=31.305

c)

\sqrt[3]{78}  = 4.27265

On rounding off to 2 significant figures we get

=4.3

Hence required answers

a)1290

b)31.305

c)4.3

I hope it helped you

Those 2 questions I need help with . find sec θ and tanθ
Zielflug [23.3K]

STEP - BY - STEP EXPLANATION

What to find?

The the value of secθ.

Given:

(4, 3)

⇒(x, y) = (4, 3)

Step 1

Draw a sketch.

Step 2

Substitute the values into the trig. ratio formula below.

tan\theta=\frac{opposite}{adjacent}

From the sketch above, opposite = 3 and adjacent = 4

tan\theta=\frac{3}{4}

Step 3

Find the value of the hypotenuse side using Pythagoras theorem.

let h be the hypotenuse side.

\begin{gathered} h^2=4^2+3^2 \\  \\ =16+9 \\  \\ =25 \\  \\ h=5 \end{gathered}

Hence, hypotenuse = 5

Step 4

Substitute the values into the formula below:

\begin{gathered} cos\theta=\frac{adjacent}{hypotenuse} \\  \\ =\frac{4}{5} \end{gathered}

But,

sec\theta=\frac{1}{cos\theta}=\frac{1}{\frac{4}{5}}=\frac{5}{4}

ANSWER

secθ= 5/4

tanθ=3/4
