Answer:

As pressure decreases, density decreases

Explanation:

Pressure applied on a given system is essentially the force acting per units area of that system. Volume occupied by a system is inversely proportional to the pressure. As pressure is decreased the volume tends to increase.

Density is another property of matter which is inversely related to the volume.

i.e. Density = \frac{Mass}{Volume}

Therefore, when mass of the system is constant, decreasing the pressure will increase the volume which would in turn decrease the density.

What portion of your salt solution in ice water system is: a. A mixture? b. A solution?
ahrayia [7]

The salt and water are a homogeneous mixture but when salt dissolves in the water system is called a solution of salt and water.

What is a mixture?

A mixture is defined as the combination of two or more substances that are not chemically bonded together.

There are two types of mixture which include:

  • Homogeneous (uniform composition) and

  • Heterogeneous mixtures

When salt is added to the ice water system, it lowers the freezing point of the ice water thereby forming a homogenous mixture of water and salt.

The dissolution of salt in ice water leads to the formation of salt and water solution.

Explain in a short sentence how you can tell if a reaction is a double replacement
reaction.
Monica [59]

Explanation:

In a double displacement reaction, there is an actual exchange of partners to form new compounds.

The reaction is given as shown below:

         AB + CD → AD + CB

One of the following conditions serves as the driving force for a double replacement reaction:

  • Formation of an insoluble compound or precipitate
  • Formation of water or any other non-ionizing compound
  • Liberation of a gaseous product.
