3/5+1/2=___
To add them together, convert both fractions so they have the same denominator.
3/5=6/10 and 1/2=5/10
6/10+5/10=11/10, or 1 1/10

1/2+3/8=___
Same for this one- convert both fractions so they have the same denominator.
1/2=4/8 and 3/8 stays the same
4/8+3/8=7/8

1/2+2/5
And again, convert both fractions so they have the same denominator.
1/2=5/10 and 2/5= 4/10
5/10+4/10=9/10

Hope this helps :-)

IRINA_888 [86]

The basketball fell at rate of 9.8 feet per second

Step-by-step explanation:

The rate is the distance per unit time

Here

Given

Distance = height = h = 53.9 feet

time = t = 5.5 sec

The rate will be given as:

Rate = \frac{Height}{time} = \frac{h}{t}\\= \frac{53.9}{5.5}\\= 1.78\\

Hence,

The basketball fell at rate of 9.8 feet per second

If New York is 2 inches from Chicago, what is the distance between the two cities?
Burka [1]

Since the picture is giving you the information about the scale equivalence in which

1inch=557\text{miles}

use this information to obtain what is 2 inches

2inches\cdot\frac{557miles}{1inch}=1,114miles

the distance between the 2 cities will be 1,114 miles
