A base is any water soluble
compounds that can accept a hydrogen ion from another substance. Some bases are
strong while others are weak. Bases have bitter taste, slippery or slimy feel
on fingers, turn red litmus paper blue and react with acids to form salt. Examples
include caustic soda and ammonia.
