<em>Cilia and flagella</em>  - threadlike structures that assist in movement.

Cilia and flagella are structures made from microtubules. Besides assisting in movement, depending on the type and the location of the cilia, they may also function as a means of transportation for different molecules and have sensory functions that allow the cell to respond to the changes in its environment.

<em>Endoplasmic Reticulum</em> - tube-like structures that are the site of protein and lipid synthesis.

Endoplasmic Reticulum is an organelle composed of cisternae. It has two parts: one that is rough and focuses on the production of proteins, and one that is smooth and is responsible for the synthesis of lipids.

<em>Mitochondria</em> - the sites of cellular respiration and energy production.

Mitochondria are a fundamental part of the cell, since their main -but not only- function is to produce the energy necessary for all cell processes, from transportation to synthesis of DNA.

<em>Chloroplasts</em> - contain chlorophyll and are the site of photosynthesis.

Chloroplasts are organelles that can be found in plant cells. It transforms sunlight into chemical energy to later use it for the production of sugar for the plant to consume.

<em>Lysosomes</em> - digestion organelles that break down biomolecules into smaller molecules.

Lysosomes are found in animal cells. In their interior, they possess many enzymes that specialize in the degradation of biomolecules. These enzymes work at a very acidic pH, meaning that if the lysosomal membrane were to break, the enzymes would still not be able to destruct the cellular components because of the alkaline nature of the cytosol.

<em>Centrioles</em> - cylindrical tubular organelles  that are involved in cell division.

Also formed by microtubules, Centrioles organize the mitotic spindle, a key element for cell division to occur.

(the Centrioles option wasn't given in the question, but it's the organelle that matches to the description that was being left out).

Answer:

Endoplasmic Reticulam,Mitocondria,Centrioles,Lysosome, Cilia and flagella and chloroplast.

Explanation:

1 Endoplasmic reticulam are site of protein in lipid synthesis.

2 Mitocondria is the site of cellular respiration and energy production

3  Centrioles are the cylindrical tubular organelles that are involved in cell Divison

4 Lysosomes are digestion organelles that break down bio molecules into smaller molecules.

5 Cilia  and flagella are threadlike structure that assist movement.

6  Chloroplast contain chlorophyll and are the site of photosynthesis.

The PCR primer ‘D7S820’ is used to amplify the D7S820 locus. Using this gel below, determine whether each person (M1, P1, P2, C1
Ahat [919]

Answer:

1) M1 is heterozygous since it contains 2 bands, which means that it contains one recessive and one dominant allele

P1 is homozygous for this locus, since it contains a single band or is known to be homozygous for the locus or gene.

P2 is hetozygous for this locus because two bands appear in which each band represents one allele for the gene.

ChildC contains two gel bands, representing two alleles and is therefore heterozygous

P1 is the father of the child C1, if we look at the gel, each father shows a similar band, one coinciding with the mother and the second with the father p1

As for the paternity study, the PCR test is not useful, since it provides asymmetric results, thus only one strand information will be provided, and because the DNA is double-stranded, a more complete study is required.:

The absorptive effectiveness of the small intestine is enhanced by increasing the surface area of the mucosal lining. Which of t
bekas [8.4K]

Answer:

plicae circulares and intestinal villi

Explanation:

The inner wall of the intestine is full of wrinkles, called villi. An enlargement of them under the microscope reveals that they are formed by cells whose surface has innumerable small "wrinkled" structures. The small intestine is the largest viscera of the body (about six meters). Intestinal villi and microvilli increase the area of contact with the intestine as well as the speed of absorption of food. Blood capillaries and lymph are in these villi to absorb nutrients.

The intestinal villi, have the function of increasing the absorption of nutrients after digestion. They are the folds of the intestines. The surface of the villi has an area of 12 cm² and the microvilli 240 cm².

Villi and microvilli increase the area of intestinal absorption by approximately 30 times and 600 times, respectively, providing exceptionally efficient absorption of nutrients in the lumen.

The entire small intestine has circular folds of mucosa, also called Kerckring valves and circular plicae. Most extend transversely around the small intestine cylinder for about half or two-thirds of its circumference, but some form complete circles, and some have a spiraling direction; The latter usually extend a little more than once around the bowel, but occasionally two or three times. Circular folds slow the passage of partially digested food along the intestines and provide an increased surface for absorption.
