Julie makes $7.65 for 1 hour. We know she earned $24.48 so how many hours did she work to earn that? you could set it up like this

1hr    =    X (hrs)
$7.65 $24.48 (money earned) now cross multipy

7.65 * x = 1*24.48
7.65x=24.48 (now we want x alone)

7.65x=24.48 (you must divide both sides by 7.65 to get x alone)
7.65     7.65
now any number divided by itself is 1 so
1x is automatically written like this

x=24.48
      7.65 now divide 24.48 by 7.65 to get the answer
x=3.2 hours that's your answer. She worked 3.2 hours to earn $24.48
