Desmond rolled a six sided number cube. A six sided number cube is with outcomes of {1,2,3,4,5,6}. Desmond rolled it 72 times. When Desmond rolls once, he will get one outcome. Similarly, when he rolls it 72 times, he will get 72 outcomes.

He wants to find how many times he expect to roll a 4.

Total number of outcomes of a number cube ={1,2,3,4,5,6}

Probability of getting a 4 in one roll= \frac{1}{6}

Therefore,Number of times Desmond rolls a 4 in 72 times = \frac{1}{6} of 72

= \frac{1}{6} \times 72

=12

Therefore, about 12 times Desmond expect to get 4 in 72 times of rolling of a number cube.

If x^2+2=3^2/3+3^-2/3 then prove that 3x^3+9x-8=0
gregori [183]

Answer:

See below.

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2 + 2 = 3^2/3 + 3^-2/3

x^2 = 3^2/3 + 3^-2/3  - 2

x =  √(3^2/3 + 3^-2/3  - 2)

x = 0.748888296

Substitute for x  in  3x^3 + 9x - 8:

3( 0.748888296)^3 + 9( 0.748888296) - 8 = 0.

So it is proved.

A machine operation produces bearings whose diameters are normally distributed, with a mean of 0.497 inch and a standard deviati
eduard
Mean = 0.497 in, SD = 0.003 in
Required diameter ranges between 0.496 in and 0.504 in
Anything other diameter obtained is not acceptable.

That is;
P(x<0.496) and P(x>0.504) are not acceptable.

Now,
P(x<0.496) = P(Z< (0.496-0.497)/0.003)) = P(Z<-0.33)
From Z tables, P(Z<-0.33) = 0.3707

Similarly,
P(x>0.504) = P(Z> (0.504-0.497)/0.003)) = P(Z>2.33)
From Z tables, P(Z>2.33) = 1-0.9901 = 0.0099

Therefore, unacceptable proportion = P(x<0.496)+P(x>0.504) = 0.3707+0.0099 = 0.3806 or 38.06%

Explain how to use the combine place values strategy to find 223-119
Vikentia [17]
So, the subtraction looks like this:

   223
  -119
_______

The reason why combining place values here is necessary is that 3 is less than 9 (so I can't just substract in the one's place without going to negative numbers)

so we combine the ones and tens places and substract the whole: 23-19 is four!
   223
  -119
_______
     04

and then we continue
   223
  -119
_______
    204

and that's the result!
