Well 3x is 3 times if they are together beside each other that mean they are multiplying so 3 times x plus 5times y = -5

You want to solve for x.

3x+5y=-5
3x=-5-5y
x=-5/3 - 5/3y

Harder than it looks.

The cost of electricity in a certain city is $0.08 for each of the first 300kWh (kilowatt-hours) and $0.13 for each kilowatt-hou
Ivahew [28]

Step-by-step explanation:

0.08*300 + 0.13x = 51.95

Multiply thru by 100 to get:

8*300 + 13x = 5195

13x = 5195-2400

13x = 2,795

x = 215 hours

Area of a trapezium is 31.5cm. If the parallel sides are of lengths 7.3cm and 5.3cm. Calculate the perpendicular distance betwee
Anna11 [10]

Answer:

5cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given area of trapezium = 31.5 sq. cm

Length of parallel sides = 7.3cm and 5.3cm

Formula to calculate area of trapezium is

1/2*(sum of parallel sides)*perpendicular distance between parallel sides

sum of parallel sides =  (7.3 + 5.3) = 12.6cm

substituting value of area given and sum of parallel sides we have

31.5 = 1/2* 12.6 * perpendicular distance between parallel sides

(31.5 * 2)/12.6 = perpendicular distance between parallel sides

perpendicular distance between parallel sides = 63/12.6 = 5

Therefore perpendicular distance between parallel sides for given trapezium is 5cm.
