1. Cubism is an influential style of the twentieth century, described as reducing everything to 'to cubes'.

2. It was agreed to be first devoloped in the early 1900's by Picasso and Paul Cézanne.

3. The name cubism was derived by a comment made by a critic Louis Vauxcelles, seeing some of Georges Braque's paintings in Paris in 1908.

4. At the time Cubism opened up infinite possibilities for the treatment of visual reality in art, and helped a starting point for many abstract styles such as neo-plasticism.
