Square root of 5 + square root of 3 the whole divided by sqaure root of 5 - square root of 3
xxMikexx [17]

Answer:

The answer is 4 + √15 .

Step-by-step explanation:

You have to get rid of surds in the denorminator by multiplying it with the opposite sign :

\frac{ \sqrt{5}  +  \sqrt{3} }{ \sqrt{5}  -  \sqrt{3} }

=  \frac{ \sqrt{5} +  \sqrt{3}  }{ \sqrt{5}  -  \sqrt{3} }  \times  \frac{ \sqrt{5}  +  \sqrt{3} }{ \sqrt{5}  +  \sqrt{3} }

=  \frac{ {( \sqrt{5} +  \sqrt{3} ) }^{2} }{( \sqrt{5} -  \sqrt{3} )( \sqrt{5}  +  \sqrt{3})  }

=   \frac{ {( \sqrt{5} )}^{2}  + 2( \sqrt{5} )( \sqrt{3}) +  {( \sqrt{3}) }^{2}  }{ {( \sqrt{5}) }^{2} -  { (\sqrt{3} )}^{2}  }

=  \frac{5 + 2 \sqrt{15} + 3 }{5 - 3}

=  \frac{8 + 2 \sqrt{15} }{2}

= 4 +  \sqrt{15}

I need to know how to do Solving Systems of Equations by Elimination
vredina [299]
The point of elimination is to have one variable so example

3x + 2y = 4

7X + 3y = 5

1) Try to find a way to have one variable

7(3x + 2y = 4) ----> 21x + 14y = 28

-3(7x+ 3y = 5) -----> -21x -9y = -15

2) add

0 + 5y = 13

3) solve for the last variable

5y = 13
y = 13/5 = 2 3/5 = 2.8

4) Subsitute the variable to get the other one

3x + 2(2.8) = 4

3x + 5.6 = 4

3x = -1.6

x = 0.533333333 (continue)

The intersection would be 0.53 with a line above the 3 and 2.8. (0.5333 , 2.8)

Hope you understand!!

Which steps could be part of the process in algebraically solving the system of equations, y + 5x = x2 + 10 and y = 4x – 10? Che
guapka [62]
That would be :
 4x – 10 = x2 – 5x + 10  ( y = 4x - 10 is substitute for y)

 PROOF:        y + 5x = x²<span> + 10
</span>                      (4x - 10) + 5x = x² + 10
                       4x - 10  =  x² -5x + 10
     <span>

</span>0 = x2 – 9x + 20<span>  (liked terms are grouped and simplified)

PROOF:     </span> 4x - 10  =  x² -5x + 10
                    4x = x² -5x + 10 + 10
                     0  = x² -5x -4x + 20
                     0  = x² - 9x + 20

Solving:
              x² - 9x + 20 = 0

              x² - 5x - 4x + 20 = 0

              (x - 5) (x - 4)  = 0

           ⇒ x = 4  (as question says) OR x = 5
