The auxiliary bookstore in the student center has one checkout counter where one employee operates the cash register. Customers

arrive at a rate of 24 per hour following a Poisson distribution and service times are exponentially distributed, with a mean rate of 30 customers per hour. The average purchase per customer is $48. The bookstore considers adding another employee to assist the present operator. There are several options to utilize this additional staff. One is to enable more customers to be served in less time, thus increasing the service rate from 30 customers per hour to 40 customers per hour. Alternatively, the bookstore could redesign to add a second cash register, one has its own line. Assume existing customers split evenly between the two cash registers and each has her/his own line, just like most grocery stores. Finally, the bookstore can use this additional staff as a second register but unlike option 2, there is only one combined line shared by these two registers (like most of the bank tellers). Assume the hourly rate for each employee is $20, regardless what job do they perform. Assume that each customer is only waiting for up to 1 minute to be served, or would renege (i.e., leave the store unpurchased). Which option should the bookstore adopt to minimize the total cost?

JulsSmile [24]

We know that there is a total of 900 cells, and 37 of the samples 60 are red. 900/60 is our unit rate of 15. 37 times 15 is 555. We will see 555 red blood cells in all of the cells.

555 is our answer.

How long will it take to administer 1000 cc at a drop factor of 15 drop/ml and a drip rate of 50 drop/min
gayaneshka [121]
First, we are going to determine the number of drops that needs to be administered by dividing the total volume by the volume per drop. Since, 1 cc (cm³) is equal to 1 mL then, 1000 cc is equal to 1000 mL.

   n = (1000 mL)(15 drop/1 mL) = 15000 drops

Then, divide the number of drops by the number of drops per minute.

   N = (15000 drops)/ (50 drop/min) = 300 mins

Answer: 300 mins or 5 hours

50-10x=20 what is the value of x in this problem
Andrew [12]
So what I did was I wrote down the problem 50 - 10x = 20.

The first step I did was take 50 and subtract it from both sides: 50 - 10x = 20
                                                                                                   -50            -50
After that i cross out the so 50's and take 20 and subtract it to 50 which gave me -30. So when you write this down you rewrite it as: -10x = -30

Last step: take the -10 and divide it by both sides the cross out the two -10's cause it's going to be written as -30/-10 which would give you x = 3. So there is your answer, hope this helps. :)
