Suppose that we are testing a coin to see if it is fair, so our hypotheses are: H0: p = 0.5 vs Ha: p ≠ 0.5. In each of (a) and (

b) below, use the "Edit Data" option on StatKey to find the p-value for the sample results and give a conclusion in the test. a. We get 56 heads out of 100 tosses. b. We get 560 heads out of 1000 tosses. c. Compare the sample proportions in parts (a) and (b). Compare the p-values. Why are the p-values so different?

Answer:

H_0: p = 0.5\\H_a: p \neq 0.5

a. We get 56 heads out of 100 tosses.

We will use one sample proportion test

x = 56

n = 100

\widehat{p}=\frac{x}{n}

\widehat{p}=\frac{56}{100}

\widehat{p}=0.56

Formula of test statistic =\frac{\widehat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}}}

                                       =\frac{0.56-0.5}{\sqrt{\frac{0.5(1-0.5)}{100}}}

                                       =1.2

refer the z table for p value

p value = 0.8849

a.  We get 560 heads out of 1000 tosses.

We will use one sample proportion test

x = 560

n = 1000

\widehat{p}=\frac{x}{n}

\widehat{p}=\frac{560}{1000}

\widehat{p}=0.56

Formula of test statistic =\frac{\widehat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}}}

                                       =\frac{0.56-0.5}{\sqrt{\frac{0.5(1-0.5)}{1000}}}

                                       =3.794

refer the z table for p value

p value = .000148

p value of part B is less than Part A because part B have 10 times the number the tosses.

1) What is the solution of the given system?
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

1  x=-2.5  y = -5.5

2.  x=5  y=1

Step-by-step explanation:

1) What is the solution of the given system?

5x-y=-7

3x-y=-2

Multiply the second equation by -1

-1*(3x-y)=-1(-2)

-3x +y = 2

Now add the first equation to the modified second equation

5x-y=-7

-3x +y = 2

------------------

2x = -5

Divide each side by 2

2x/2 = -5/2

x = -2.5

Now we need to find y

-3x+y =2

-3(-2.5) +y =2

7.5 +y =2

Subtract 7.5 from each side

7.5 -7.5 +y =2-7.5

y = -5.5

2) what is the solution of the given system?

5x+7y=32

8x+6y=46

Divide the second equation by 2

8x/2+6y/2=46/2

4x+3y =23

Multiply the first equation by 4

4 (5x+7y)=32*4

20x+28y = 128

Now multiply the modified 2nd equation by -5

-5(4x+3y )=-5(23 )

-20x -15y = -115

Lets add the new equations together to eliminate x

20x+28y = 128

-20x -15y = -115

---------------------

      13y = 13

Divide each side by 13

13y/13 =13/13

y=1

Now substitute back in to find x

5x+7y=32

5x +7(1) =32

5x +7 =32

Subtract 7 from each side

5x+7-7 =32-7

5x =25

Divide by 5

5x/5 =25/5

x=5

Math Question Please Help! 25 pts!!!
ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

A) (2+x)/(4+x) × 100 = 75

B) 4

Step-by-step explanation:

2 out of 4

(2+x) out of (4+x)

(2+x)/(4+x) × 100 = 75

(2+x)/(4+x) = 3/4

8 + 4x = 12 + 3x

x = 4

10. Jack’s mom gave him 50 chocolates. At Jack’s party, he gave each of his friends 6 chocolates. Unfortunately Jack was 4 piece
ASHA 777 [7]

Answer:

see below

Step-by-step explanation:

Let f = number of friends

all but one friend got 6 pieces   and 1 friend got 2  for a total of 50 pieces

6(f-1) + 2 = 50

Subtract 2 from each side

6(f-1) +2-2 = 50-2

6(f-1) = 48

Divide by 6

6(f-1)/6 = 48/6

f-1 = 8

Add 1 to each side

f-1+1=8+1

f=9

Jack has 9 friends at the party

With Jack and his mom, there are 11 people

Matt has a block. He uses one of the flat surfaces of the block to trace a triangle. What type of solid figure is Matt's block?
stellarik [79]
Matt's shape is likely to be a prism. A prism is a solid three dimensional or geometric figure with two polygonal faces in parallel planes. The parallel face is a triangle while the other face could be rectangular or cuboid in shape. The cross section of a prism is the same across its length. This shape is also a polyhedron.
