How can the committee chair influence legislation

Law
1 answer:
Leto [7]3 years ago
6 0

Answer:

Congressional committees play a central role in policymaking, and the members of the most important committees are thought to be particularly powerful, but committee chairs have received less scholarly attention. We study the effects of congressional committee positions on legislative influence—analyzing legislative effectiveness, campaign contributions, and the implied value of being lobbied—and utilizing a within-member design that allows us to distinguish the effects of committee positions from selection into committee positions. We find little evidence that a seat on an important committee makes a member of Congress more powerful, but members do experience a significant increase in power when they become chair of a committee. Our results suggest that much of the power associated with committee positions in Congress is concentrated among a small set of chairs that play a disproportionate role in policymaking.

There are many examples of police misconduct. Explain at least two reasons that could cause an honest officer to violate the law
Sergio [31]

Answer:

Usually, the police tend to respect the rights of citizens and behave according to the rules of their profession, without overreaching and protecting citizens and their rights.

But on some occasions, police officers can overstep their roles and violate some constitutional rights of citizens, whether conscientiously or not.

In the latter case, the police often overstep their duties without the intention of doing so, but as a consequence of the situations to which they are exposed. Thus, for example, more than once a police officer has mistakenly shot a suspect who was in the middle of a persecution operation or at a crime scene, or even many times the police have arrested people who were not committing any crime, just for the simple fact of being suspicious.

Based on the author's description, which best describes the writer that Jamal needs
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

The question is incomplete. This is the complete question:

After lunch, the junior representatives listened to an author read from her work. Jamal’s mom had given him some money to get a souvenir of his big day, and jamal decided to buy the author’s book. When she was done with her presentation, jamal approached her and asked if she had any copies for sale. The woman gave him a copy for free and even wrote an inscription inside. She wrote, "I hope you had a blast during the conference. I wish I had someone as ambitious as you working on my campaign. Jamal was touched by her words. He shook the woman’s hand and went back to join the other junior representatives. Based on the author’s description, which word best describes the writer that jamal meets?

a) careless

b) generous

c) demanding

d) disappointing

The answer is b): generous.

Explanation:

The answer is “generous” because when Jamal approached the writer, he likely intended to buy a copy of the writer’s book. However, the writer, a woman, gave Jamal a copy of her book for free, and also inspired him by inscribing the following words inside the book: “I wish I had someone as ambitious as you working on my campaign”. These two acts from the writer point to the fact that the writer was generous with her book, and words of inspiration.
