Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

R is the speed of the plane

S is the speed of the wind

(R-S)*7 = 7490 <--- against the wind

(R+s)*9 = 11610 <--- with the wind

Distributes:

7R - 7S  = 7490

9R + 9S = 11610

Multiplies the top equation by 9

and the bottom equation by 7

63R - 63S = 67410

63R + 63s = 81270

126R = 148680

R=1180

Plugs into original first equation

(R-S)*7 = 7490

(1180-s)*7 = 7490

 1180 - s = 7490/7

1180 - s = 1070

-s = -110

s = 110

The speed of the plane in still air is 1180

The spped of the wind is 110

This is awfully fast.

If a thermometer indicates 40 degrees Celsius, what is the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit?
Stells [14]
<span>So we wan't to convert the temperature from Celsius scale to fahrenheit scale. The method fot that is this: First, 0 degrees Celsius or the starting point of Celsius scale is 32 degrees Fahrenheit. And the magnitude of a degree Fahrenheit is 1.8 times greater than the magnitude of a degree Celsius, or: 1F=1.8F. So now we can construct a function that will give us temperature in degrees Fahrenheit: T(F)=1.8T(C) + 32. We have T(C)= 40, and after we put that in our function we get: T(F)= 1.8*40 + 32 = 72 + 32 = 104 F. So 40 degrees Celsius is 104 degrees Fahrenheit. </span>

A small business employs 6 women and 4 men. The manager randomly selects 3 of them to be on a team. What is the probability that
ElenaW [278]
Total of 10 persons, out of which 6 are women.
So
probability of choosing the first woman = 6/10
probability of choosing the second woman = 5/9
probability of choosing the third woman = 4/8

Since we want all 3 steps to be a success, we need to have success in each of the steps, and the overall probability is given by the multiplication rule:
P(all 3 are women)=6/10*5/9*4/8=120/720=1/6
