The equation for the reaction is as follows
H₂ + Cl₂ ---> 2HCl
the stoichiometry of Cl₂ to HCl is 1:2
this means that for every 1 mol of Cl₂ that reacts, 2 moles of HCl are produced.
Since there's excess of H₂, Cl₂ is the limiting reactant. Number of HCl moles produced are twice the number of Cl₂ moles reacted.
Mass of Cl₂ reacted = 7.25 g
Moles of Cl₂ reacted = 7.25 g / 70.9 g/mol
                                 = 0.10 mol
moles of HCl produced  - 0.10 mol x 2
                                       = 0.20 mol
mass of HCl = 0.20 mol x 36.46 g/mol
                     = 7.29 g

What is the mole fraction of potassium dichromate, K2Cr2O7, in a solution prepared from 24.42 g of potassium dichromate and 240.
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

6.19\times 10^{-3} is the mole fraction of potassium dichromate.

Explanation:

Mass of potassium dichromate = 24.42 g

Moles of  potassium dichromate =n_1=\frac{24.42 g}{294.185 g/mol}=0.0830 mol

Mass of water = 240.0 g

Moles of water =n_2=\frac{240.0 g}{18.015 g/mol}=13.3222 mol

Mole fraction is calculated by:

\chi_1=\frac{n_1}{n_1+n_2}

\chi_1=\frac{0.0830 mol}{0.0830 mol+13.3222 mol}=0.00619=6.19\times 10^{-3}

6.19\times 10^{-3} is the mole fraction of potassium dichromate.

What is 2 H2 + 1 O2 = 2 H2O balanced?
jeka57 [31]

Answer:

Yes, that is correctly balanced. 2 H2 + 1 O2 = 2 H2O is already balanced.

Explanation:

If you count up the number of hydrogen atoms and oxygen atoms on each side, you will see that they are equal:

2 H2 + 1 O2 (4 hydrogen and 2 oxygen) = 2 H2O (4 hydrogen and 2 oxygen).

How many moles are in 3.01*10^23 atoms of Mg
Basile [38]
1 mole ------------ 6.02x10²³ atoms
? moles ----------- 3.01x10²³ atoms

moles = ( 3.01x10²³ ) x 1 / 6.02x10²³

=> 0.5 moles Mg
