Chemistry

To find out the electronegativity of each pair, work it out by listing them.

H = 2.2
S = 2.1
N = 3.0 Cl = 3.0
O = 3.5
C = 2.5

H – S -> 2.2 - 2.1 = 0.1
H – Cl -> 2.2 - 3.0 = -0.8
N – H -> 3.0 - 2.2 = 0.8
O – H -> 3.5 - 2.2 = 1.3
C – H-> 2.5 - 2.2 = 0.3
So, the pairs that has the highest electronegativity is H-Cl and N-H.

Which statement explains which component is likely to be more powerful in explaining a scientific phenomenon? Component Q, becau
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

Component P, because being supported by ample evidence is a characteristic of a theory.

Explanation:

Hypothesis do not explain phenomenon they are just educated guesses that can be put into work to see if they are true of false.

Scientific theory on other hand, is widely accepted and supported by large amount of evidence and useful for explaining scientific phenomenon.

100 g of 20% salt solution is mixed with 200g of 10% salt solution. Find out the concentration of the resulting solution.
Hoochie [10]

Explanation:

The total mass is:

100 g + 200 g

= 300 g

The mass of salt is:

0.20 (100 g) + 0.10 (200 g)

= 20 g + 20 g

= 40 g

So the concentration is:

40 g / 300 g

≈ 13.33%

Round as needed.

What is the name of the society that scientist form to bring about use one universal system of measurements? (Please hurry)
Katarina [22]

The International Bureau of Weights and Measures is the society that scientist form to bring about one universal system of measurements.

Explanation:

Every theoretical assumptions should be proved experimentally and for that we need a specific system to measure or quantify parameters used in those experiments or the outcome results variables.

The measurements of length should be done by measuring them in meters only and not by liters. The physical properties of every materials should have a particular way of measuring them and this is decided by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures.

They also decide the units of each measurements and the standardization of each units and weights are also done by this society.

Liquid sodium is being considered as an engine coolant. How many grams of liquid sodium (minimum) are needed to absorb 8.60 MJ o
Alecsey [184]

Answer: 64.216\times 10^4grams of liquid sodium is required.

Explanation: To calculate the mass of liquid sodium, we use the formula:

q=nc\Delta T\\q=\frac{m}{M}c\Delta T

where,

q = heat required, 8.60MJ=8.60\times 10^6J   (Conversion factor: 1MJ = 1000000J)

m = Mass of liquid sodium, ?g

M = Molar mass of liquid sodium, 23g/mol

c = Specific heat capacity, 30.8J/Kmol

\Delta T = change in temperature,  \Delta T=(510-500)K=10K    (Conversion factor: 0°C = 273K)

Putting values in above equation, we get:

8.60\times 10^6J=\frac{m}{23g/mol}\times 30.8J/Kmol\times 10K

m=64.216\times 10^4grams
