14 = 31.7 - 3x

First we want to isolate the x term.

(Subtraction property of equality)
14 - 31.7 = -17.7

-17.7 = -3x

Now we use the division property of equality to isolate the x variable.

(-17.7 ÷ -3 = 5.9   Two negative equals a positive)

x = 5.9

14 = 31.7 - 3x

-17.7 = -3x              <---- I subtracted 31.7 from both sides

5.9 = x       <---- I divided both sides by -3

They are not equivalent because:

6*3=18

but...

4*3=12 <- The ratio says "8" not "12"

If you don't get it just say and I'll explain it further. :)

What is the area of the composite shape
FrozenT [24]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The shape can be divided into two parts, let use the division in the question

So we have two rectangles

The area of a rectangle is given by l×b.

Let the big rectangle be 1

And the smaller rectangle be 2

Rectangle 1

Length is 16cm, breadth is 6cm

Area=l ×b

Area=16×6

Area=96cm^2

Rectangle two

The length will be 14-6=8cm

And the breadth will be 16-2=14cm

Then,

Area=l ×b

Area=14×8

Area=112cm^2

Total area is

Area1+Area2

112+96

Total area=208cm^2.

Kelsie sold digital cameras on her website . She bought the cameras for $65 each and includes a 60% markup to get the selling pr
ryzh [129]

Answer:

$104

Step-by-step explanation:

First, convert 60% to a decimal.

60% = 0.6

Now, multiply the cost to buy the camera ($65) by the decimal.

$65 × 0.6 = $39

Now, add this amount to the amount it cost to buy the camera.

$65 + $39 = $104

The selling price for the camera will be $104.
