What would happen if only green light reached the earth?

Biology

Answer:

Explanation:

First and foremost, it should be noted that chlorophyll, the main pigment of plants, does not absorb specifically the color of green. So, if green light were the only light to have the ability to reach the Earth, there would pretty much be close to no color being absorbed by plants. (The reason I wrote "close to no color" is because there are accessory pigments known as carotenoids, which absorb blue-green and violet light.

Choice A: When answering this, we have to remember that oxygen (in the form of byproduct O2) is one of the most notable results of photosynthesis. Having said that, we also know that non-green light is critical for the functioning of photosynthesis. Less O2 would be produced as a result as less photosynthesis (if any) is done, so it is false.

Choice B: The amount of sugar produced by plants would definitely not increase because like I wrote above, the rate of photosyn. is going down.

Choice C: This is false because considering that producers/autotrophs form the base of most food chains/webs and that they are no longer producing any food, the amount of food will not increase.

Choice D is the answer by the process of elimination.

Answer:

D.

Explanation:

Then everything on earth will probably die. See, most plants are colored green because they reflect that color. Now, if only green light reaches earth, there is no light being used by the plant in photosynthesis because it’s all being reflected by it. As a result, almost every plant on earth does except for ones being maintained in human laboratories (AKA: an artificial environment). As a result, all of the herbivores on Earth will die followed by all of the carnivores and omnivores (because they eat herbivores).

What are the adaptations of bottle-nosed dolphins that allows them to thrive in the marine biome?
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

A and D

Explanation:

Dolphins have a narrow, torpedo-shaped body to swim easily through water. Their strong, paddle-like flippers also aid in strong swimming.

However dolphins do not secrete gases or attach themselves to the bottom of the sea, so the answers are A and D.

Good luck ^^
