Let the speed of the boat be x
so going against the current the speed is x-7
going with the current the speed is x+7

let the distance be d
time = distance / speed
time to go against the current = d/(x-7)
time to go with the current = d/(x+7)

time going against the current is 3 times going with the current

d/(x-7) = 3d/(x+7)     ⇒⇒⇒ divide by d
1/(x-7) = 3/(x+7)
x+7 = 3(x-7)
x+7 = 3x - 21
2x = 28
x = 14

So, the speed of the boat in still water is = 14 mph

The sum of the angle measures of any triangle is 180 degrees. suppose that one angle in a triangle has a degree measure of −3x5
salantis [7]
If we let m₁, m₂, and m₃ be the measures of the angles of the triangle, the equation that would relate them to each other is,

     m₁ + m₂ + m₃ = 180

Given the measures of the first two angles, the measure of the third angle is calculated through the equation,

    m₃ = 180 - (m₁ + m₂)

Substituting the known expressions,

    m₃ = 180 - (-3x⁵ + 2x²)

Simplifying,

    m₃ = 180 + 3x⁵ - 2x²

1) What is 20% of 20?
2) what is 15 is what percent of 30?
3) 50 is 50% of what?
N76 [4]

Hi there!

The word "of" is the same thing as a multiplication sign.

1)

20% = 0.2

0.2 × 20 = 4

2)

? × 30 = 15

divide each side of the equation by 30

? = 0.5

0.5 = 50%

3)

50% = 0.5

0.5 × ? = 50

divide each side of the equation by 0.5

? = 100

There you go! I really hope this helped, if there's anything just let me know! :)
