Show how Carly can work out 171/2% of 240 in her head
KATRIN_1 [288]

17 ½ % of 240

First option

Change  the fraction ½ to a decimal. It would be 0.5 ( 1 divided by 2)

½=0.5

You will add the whole number 17 to the result.

17 + 05 = 17.5

Now you will divide by 100 (percent)

17.5 /100  To divide a decimal by 100,  move the decimal point two places to the left.

17.5 /100 = 0.175   times 240

0.175 x 240 = 42

Second option

Change the percent to an improper fraction

17 ½= 35/2 (you have to multiply (2 x 17) plus 1 equals 35 over 2 ( keep the denominator). It will be 35/2.  Put the other number (240) over 100 and multiply.

35/2 x 240/100 = 42

There is another way . You can simplify

Cancel all the zeros that you have and start to reduce.

            6

7       12

35 x 24<span> 0   </span> =  42

2       10 0

 1          5

           1

17 ½ % of 240  =  42

Last year 300 people attended a play with ticket price of $8. The school estimates that 20 fewer people attend for each $1 incre
masya89 [10]

Answer:

$12

Step-by-step explanation:

If we stuck with the price of $8, then we end with an income of $2400

Increasing it by $1 will decrease attendance by 20

8 x 300 = 2400

9 x 280 = 2520

10 x 260 = 2600

11 x 240 = 2640

12 x 220 = 2640

13 x 200 = 2600

We're starting to go down, so let's stop there

The ticket price of $11 or $12 appears to give the most income

I would stick with $12 since your still getting more money from one ticket

4.3 Mr Mokwebo 's two sons, Refentse and Tokelo have just passed grade 7 and grade 9 respectively. He will give them some money
Bumek [7]

The amount of money each of Mr Mokwebo 's two sons; Tokelo and Refentse will get is R116 and R95 respectively.

<h3>How to write and solve equation:</h3>

  • Amount needed to buy chocolate = R253
  • Tokelo's money = x
  • Refentse's money = x - 21

Total amount needed = Tokelo's money + Refentse's money

253 = x + (x - 21)

253 = x + x - 21

253 = 2x - 21

253 - 21 = 2x

232 = 2x

divide both sides by 2

x = 232/2

x = 116

Therefore,

Tokelo's money = x = R116

Refentse's money = x - 21

= 116 - 21

= R95

(2+x)dy/dx=3y need help
den301095 [7]
(2+x) \frac{dy}{dx} =3y
\frac{1}{3y} dy= \frac{1}{2+x} dx
\int { \frac{1}{3y} } \, dy = \int { \frac{1}{2+x} } \, dx
\frac{1}{3}\ln(3y) = \ln(2+x) + C
(raise both to the power e): e^{ \frac{1}{3}\ln(3y)}=e^{\ln(k(2+x))}
(3y)^ \frac{1}{3} =k(2+x)
3y=k(2+x)^3
y= k(2+x)^3
