What are some proposed disadvantages to utilizing DNA technology?

Biology

Most of the downsides of recombinant DNA technology are ethical in nature. Some people feel that recombinant DNA technology goes against the laws of nature, or against their religious beliefs, due to how much control this technology gives humans over the most basic buildings blocks of life.

Other ethical concerns also exist. Some people worry that if companies can pay scientists to patent, buy and sell genetic material, then genetic material could become an expensive commodity. Such a system might lead to people having their genetic information stolen and used without permission. It may sound odd, but such cases have already happened. In 1951, a scientist used unique cells stolen from a woman named Henrietta Lacks to create an important cell line (the HeLa cell line) which is still used in medical research today. Her family did not know about her involuntary donation until after her death, and never received compensation, but others have profited from the use of HeLa cells.

Many people worry about the safety of modifying food and medicines using recombinant DNA technology. Although genetically modified foods seem safe in multiple studies, it is easy to see why such fears exist.

Is the temperature profile in the thermosphere more like that of the troposphere or the stratosphere?
podryga [215]

The correct answer is: stratosphere.

This is because their temperatures are rising instead of decreasing.

There are 4 primary layers of the atmosphere on Earth:

Troposphere (6-20km), the layer that we live in, where the weather occurs. Only nitrogen and oxygen present.

Stratosphere (20-50 km), where the airplanes fly, contains the ozone layer, which absorbs harmful radiation from the sun.

Mesosphere (50-85 km), the coldest region of Earth’s atmosphere (-100 C), protective layer

Thermosphere (80-690), the hottest (1500 C) and the thickest layer which consists of the ionosphere and the exosphere.

zhenek [66]

First, a complete digestive system means that the digestive tract has a beginning or the oral end and the opposite end or the aboral end. This is found in more complex animals starting from roundworms (flatworms have an incomplete digestive tract). A closed circulatory system is found in animals more recent than mollusks. The presence of the coelom makes it more evolved than the flatworms.

Specifically, a small animal with a segmented body, short stiff appendages, and soft skin with the above characteristics point out to the phylum Annelida or annelids.

What might happen to the Earth if human increase the amount of greenhouse gasses?
KATRIN_1 [288]

Answer:

Greenhouse gas refers to any gaseous compound in the atmosphere that can absorb infrared radiation, thereby trapping heat and keeping it in the atmosphere. By increasing the heat in the atmosphere, greenhouse gases are responsible for the greenhouse effect, which ultimately leads to global warming.

Examples why greenhouse gases in the atmosphere:

 • farming cattle releases methane
 • farming rice in paddy fields releases methane
 • burning fossil fuels in vehicles and power stations releases carbon dioxide
 • deforestation releases carbon dioxide and reduces the absorption of carbon dioxide through photosynthesis
