4. Is rap music more popular among young Indians than among young Asians? A sample survey compared 634 randomly chosen Indians a

ged 15 to 25 with 567 randomly selected Asians in the same age group. It found that 368 of the Indians and 130 Asians listened to rap music every day. Construct and interpret a 95% confidence interval for the difference between the proportions of Indian and Asian young people who listen to rap every day.

Answer:

H0 is accepted

there is no difference between the proportions of Indian and Asian young people who listen to rap music every day.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given  a sample survey compared 634 randomly chosen Indians aged 15 to 25 with 567 randomly selected Asians in the same age group.

p_{1} = \frac{368}{634} =0.580

It found that 368 of the Indians and 130 Asians listened to rap music every day.

p_{2} = \frac{130}{567} =0.229

Null hypothesis H0: there is no difference between the proportions of Indian and Asian young people who listen to rap every day.

p_{1} = p_{2}

Alternative hypothesis:- p_{1} \neq  p_{2}

Level of significance α = 0.05

The test of statistic

z = \frac{p_{1} -  p_{2}}{\sqrt{pq(\frac{1}{n_{1} }+\frac{1}{n_{2} })  } } }

where p = \frac{n_{1}p_{1} + n_{1}p_{2}}{n_{1}+n_{2}} = \frac{634(0.580)+567(0.229)}{634+567}

       p = 0.414

and q = 1-p = 1- 0.414 =0.586

Z = \frac{0.580-0.229}{\sqrt{0.414(0.586)(\frac{1}{634} +\frac{1}{567} } } }

on calculation , we get

z = 0.300 ><1.96 at 95 % level of significance

H0 is accepted

there is no difference between the proportions of Indian and Asian young people who listen to rap every day.

What is 6.1% in simplest fraction form?
timama [110]

Answer:

Find the GCD (or HCF) of numerator and denominator. GCD of 6 and 1 is 1.

6 ÷ 11 ÷ 1.

Reduced fraction: 61. Therefore, 6/1 simplified to lowest terms is 6/1.

In a state's Pick 3 lottery game, you pay $1.15 to select a sequence of three digits (from 0 to 9), such as 966. If you sel
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

A) 1000 different selections

B) probability of winning = 0.001

C) Net profit on winning = $257.20

D) E(y) = -0. 89165

E) Option B - The Pick 4 game is a better bet because it has a larger expected value.

Step-by-step explanation:

A) For the different selections possible, since each of the digits from 0 - 9 can take a total of 10 digits, then the different selections possible will be = 10³ = 1000 different selections

B) To find the probability of winning, since only one pick can be a winning one. Thus probability of winning = 1/1000 = 0.001

C) Net profit on winning = Amount won - Amount staked

Amount won = $258.35

Amount staked = $1.15

Thus;

Net profit on winning = $258.35 - $1.15

Net profit on winning = $257.20

D) If we call the net profit "y", then Expected value is:

E(y) = 257.2(0.001) - 1.15(1 - 0.001)

E(y) = 0.2572 - 1.14885

E(y) = -0. 89165

E) We are told that:If you bet $ 1.15 in a certain state's Pick 4 game, the expected value is negative −$0.89

The expected value of -0.89 in pick 4 is better than that in pick 3 because it's larger.

angel's dad bought a television for her completing all of her digital learning day lesson. he want to warp the gift. the box mea
atroni [7]

Answer: 13 sheets of paper

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the dimensions of the box and the wrap paper:

Box:

(56 in)(8 in)(36 in)

Warp paper:

(26 in)(17 in)

Now we need to find the surface area of the box and the area of the wrap paper:

Box:

surface_{1}=(56 in)(8 in)(2)=896 in^{2}

surface_{2}=(8 in)(36 in)(2)=576 in^{2}

surface_{3}=(56 in)(36 in)(2)=4032 in^{2}

surface-area=896 in^{2}+576 in^{2}+4032 in^{2}=5504 in^{2}

Warp paper:

area=(26 in)(17 in)=442 in^{2}

Dividing the area of the box by the area of the paper:

\frac{surface-area}{area}=\frac{5504 in^{2}}{442 in^{2}}=12.45 \approx 13

This means Angel's dad needs to purchase 13 sheets of wrapping paper.

Mr. Harrow has eight boys and six girls in his Honors Pre-calculus class. If he randomly chooses two students, one at a time, wh
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer: 15/91 which is choice B

=================================================================

There are two methods to find this answer.

Method 1) We have 6 girls and 8+6 = 14 students. The probability of picking a girl is 6/14 = 3/7. After the first girl is chosen, we have 5 girls left out of 14-1 = 13 students overall. The probability of picking another girl (assuming the first selection was a girl) is 5/13. Multiply these probabilities: (3/7)*(5/13) = (3*5)/(7*13) = 15/91

--------------------

Method 2) We can use the nCr combination formula. Order does not matter.

We have nCr = 6 C 2 = 15 ways to pick 2 girls. See the attached image below for the steps (figure 1)

Out of nCr = 14 C 2 = 91 ways to pick 2 students. See the attached image below for the steps (figure 2)

So that's another way to get the answer 15/91.
