How can I solve and graph x-y > 1

Answer:

 Please read the explanation.

Explanation:

We are given the equation:  x − y = 1

How do we graph this linear equation ?

We have  x − y = 1

The given equation can be reduced to a more simpler form.  Subtract  x  from both sides of the equation:

⇒ x − y − x = 1 − x

⇒ x − y − x = 1 − x

⇒ − y = 1 − x

Multiply both sides of the equation by  ( − 1 )

⇒ − y ⋅ ( − 1 ) = ( 1 − x ) ( − 1 )

⇒ y = x − 1

Now, we have the equation in Slope-Intercept Form:

y = m x + b , where  m  is the Slope and  b  is the y-intercept.

Hence,

Slope :  1

y-intercept :  ( 0 , − 1 )

The x-intercept is where the graph crosses the x-axis

Set  y = 0  to find the x-intercept:

⇒ x − 1 = 0

Add  1  to both sides of the equation:

⇒ x − 1 + 1 = 0 + 1

 ⇒ x − 1 + 1 = 0+ 1

⇒ x = 1

Hence,

( 1 , 0 )  is the x-intercept.

Plot the points x-intercept and intercept on the graph.

Join the two points to get the straight line.

This is the graph of the linear equation.

You would measure a book with centimeters because centimeters is much more smaller than a meter and easier to measure.

Find the area of a circle with a circumference of 6.28 units
viktelen [127]

Answer:

area of the circle = 3.14 square units

Step-by-step explanation:

Circumference of the circle formula is 2\pir

where r is the radius of the circle

given circumference = 6.28

2\pir = 6.28

Value of pi is 3.14

2*3.14 * r= 6.28

6.28 r = 6.28

divide by 6.28 on both sides

r = 1

radius = 1

Area of the circle = \pi r^2

= 3.14 *1*1 = 3.14

WHAT ARE THESE ROUNDED TO FOR THE NEAREST DOLLAR
qwelly [4]
To round a number, you first have to determine what you are rounding to. in this case, it's the nearest dollar. Then, you determine whether to "round up," to the next higher number, or "round down," which is to stay at the number it's currently at, without the numbers following what you're rounding to. If the number after the place you're rounding to is equal to or higher than 5, you'll round up. If it's lower, you'll round down.
So, for your questions, the answers would look like this:
$8.98 rounds to $9.00, because 9 is bigger than 5.
$6.49 would round down to $6.00, because 4 is less than 5.
$2.51 rounds up to $3.00, because 5 is equal to 5.
$9.78 would round up to $10.00, because 7 is higher than 5.
$39.89 will round up to $40.00, because 8 is bigger than 5.

The route used by a certain motorist in commuting to work contains two intersections with traffic signal lights. The probability
victus00 [196]

Answer: 0.1

Step-by-step explanation:

Let F = must stop at first signal .

F’ = do not have to stop at first signal .

S = must stop at second signal .

S’ = do not have to stop at second signal.

As given , we have

P(F)=0.40

P(S)=0.50

P(F∪S)=0.60

Use formula , P(F\cap S)=P(F)+P(S)-P(F\cup S)

i.e. P(F\cap S)=0.40+0.50-0.60=0.30

The probability that she must stop at the first signal but not the second signal :

P(F\cap S')=P(F)-P(F\cap S)=0.40-0.30=0.10

Hence, the probability that she must stop at the first signal but not the second signal= 0.1
