An 80-kg bungee jumper jumps off a bridge. Rubber bungee cords act as a large spring attaching the jumper to the bridge. A bear

standing in the river below catches the jumper. If the spring constant of the bungees is 20 N/m and they stretch 50 m. How much force must the bear apply to keep the jumper from moving?

Answer:

The force is F_b =  216 \  N

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The  mass of the bungee jumper is  m  = 80 kg

    The spring constant is  k =  20 \  N/ m

    The extension of the rubber bungee cords is  x = 50 m

Generally the weight of the jumper is

      W =  m *  g

=>   W =  80 *  9.8

=>   tex]W =  784  \  N  [/tex]

Generally  the returning force of the rubber bungee cords is mathematically represented as

      F  =  k  *  x

=>     F  =  20   * 50

=>     F  =  1000 \  N

The force to be applied by the bear is

    F_b =  F -  W

=>    F_b =  100 -  784

=>  F_b =  216 \  N

The frequency of sound will decrease when; A) The source approaches a stationary observer
soldi70 [24.7K]

The Doppler effect says that if the source of a sound wave and the observer are moving further apart, the frequency of the sound as the observer hears it will decrease. This can be caused by the source moving away from the observer or the observer moving away from the source. Both C and D will cause the decrease in frequency.

a particle with a charge of 0.030 C experiences a magnetic force of 1.5 N while moving at right angles to a uniform magnetic fie
stich3 [128]
The magnetic force experienced by a charged particle moving at right angle in a magnetic field is given by:
F=qvB
where
q is the charge
v is the speed of the particle
B is the intensity of the magnetic field

In our problem, q=0.030 C, v=620 m/s and F=1.5 N, therefore if we re-arrange the equation and we plug these data into it, we find the intensity of the magnetic field:
B= \frac{F}{qv}= \frac{1.5 N}{(0.030 C)(620 m/s)}=0.08 T

A man walks south at a speed of 2.00 m/s for 60.0 minutes. He then turns around and walks north a distance 3000 m in 25.0 minute
PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

v = 0.823 m/s

Explanation:

A man walks south at a speed of 2.00 m/s for 60.0 minutes.

The distance covered in South = 60 × 60 × 2 = 7200 m

He then turns around and walks north a distance 3000 m in 25.0 minutes.

As they moved in opposite direction, net displacement will be : 7200 - 3000 = 4200 m

Average velocity of the man = net displacement/time

v=\dfrac{4200\ m}{(60+25)\times 60}\\\\=0.823\ m/s

So, the average velocity of the man is 0.823 m/s.
