Answer=(x-2) (x+10)

For this it helps if you do a factoring table but since I will not for the sake of not having an image to show you, I will try and explain my answer.

The expression is:

x²+8x-20

In this case, since the x² doesn't have a number before it, we know that the beginning x's are solo, so we have...

(x+?)(x+?)

Now to solve the rest of the expression, we need to find two numbers that when multiplied equal -20 and when added equal 8.

a*b=-20
a+b=8

Lets look at the factor pairs of -20

(-1,20) or (1,-20) or (-2,10) or (2,-10) or (-4,5) or (4,-5)

Of all of these, only one pair have a sum of 8

So we can solve the expression

x²+8x-20=(x-2)(x+10)

leva [86]
We are asked to solve for the surface area of the described figure in the problem. We can conclude that the given figure is a rectangular prism since it was being mentioned in the problem that the height is laid flat. Therefore, the formula for the surface area is SA = PH + 2B where "P" stands for the perimeter of the rectangle and "B" stands for the area of the rectangle while "H" is for the height.
Solving for P, we have it:
P = width + length + width + length
P = 10 + 5 + 10 + 5
P = 30 inches
Solving for B, we have it:
B = length * width
B = 10 * 5
B = 50 inches squared
Solving for the surface area, we have it:
SA = PH + 2B
SA = 30*7 + (2*50)
SA = 310 inches squared

The answer is 310 in2.

Can some one please help me.
Otrada [13]
X = 29 and y = 101.

To find this, you need to set up an equation.

6x - 95 = 79. Once you solve this, x would equal 29.

Since 6x - 95 and y are on a straight line, they would have to equal 180. So you make another equation except you plug in 29 for x this time.

6(29) - 95 + y = 180. Once you solve this, y would equal 101.
