In a species of snail, dark-shelled individuals are better hidden from bird predators in the shady forest, while light-shelled i
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

C. Disruptive Selection

Explanation:

Disruptive selection occurs when two extremes of continuous variation are favored more than intermediate traits.

The extremes of continuous variation exhibited in this species of snail is the color of their shell which allows them to blend with the background of their habitat.

The shady forest of the habitat makes the dark-shelled individuals to be better hidden from bird predators, while the light-shelled individuals are better hidden in well-lit brushy edge areas. This disruptive coloration exhibited by both individuals makes both individuals of this species of snail less vulnerable to predation.

Both individuals of this species both extremities would naturally survive in this habitat as snails with intermediate extremities would be highly preyed on since there is no area of intermediate brightness in the habitat to make them invisible to predators

Match the following terms and definitions. 1. an electrical nerve impulse sent by nerve fibers to the central nervous system for
vladimir1956 [14]

Answer:

1. an electrical nerve impulse sent by nerve fibers to the central nervous system for interpretation. Action potential.

2. neurons that detect chemicals such as those found in food. Chemoreceptors.

3. type of eyes many arthropods have; eyes that protrude outward and consist of many lenses. Compound eyes.

4. the structure that gives the response to an environmental change. Effector

5. neurons that detect electrical fields. Electroreceptors.

6. secretion of hormones into the blood stream to affect distant processes. Endocrine.

Explanation:

An action potential is a change in the internal charge of a cell due to depolarization. These changes allow the transmission of a message from any part of the body to the central nervous system. The central nervous system will interpret the message and will give a response.

There are different types of receptors in our bodies. Chemoreceptors are the ones that detect chemicals and produce an action potential or a neurotransmitter. These receptors respond to chemicals. Another type of receptor is the electroreceptors. They detect electrical fields and are only on the skin of aquatic animals.

Compound eyes have a large number of ommatidia. As a result, the anthropods with this type of eyes have a large view angle. In other words, every ommatidium sees an image, and the final product is a combination of all of them.

The effector is the structure that gives an answer once an affector has sent the message to the nervous system that there was a change in the environment.

There are different kinds of secretions, autocrine, paracrine, and endocrine. In the endocrine secretion, the gland secrets hormones into the bloodstream so that they can travel long distances up to their target cell, which is far from the gland.

Why does increasing soil salinity have adverse effects on plant cells?
borishaifa [10]
Ezywhen salinity in soil increases the soil becomes hypertonic when compared to cell sap.the movement of particles from a lower concentrated solution to a higher concentrated solution is callede osmosis. in general conditions cell sap is at higher conc. than surrounding media. this allows water and minerals to enter the plant. but when soil is at higher conc. i.e., when its salinity increases the process becomes reversed can you imagine its consequenses?

Describe how minerals form in diagram B
Rus_ich [418]

Answer: In diagram B, the magma here is observed to be within the crust and could not come out to the surface. This signifies that the hot, rising magma, suddenly cooled down forming a huge block of mass which is considered to be an intrusive igneous body. It can be a batholith, lacolith or a pluton. This type of body is formed due to the cooling and the consolidation of hot magma.
