Answer:

a) When limestone is heated in a kiln, the calcium carbonate breaks down into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide. This type of reaction is called thermal decomposition. The process is called calcining. ... Slaked lime is used to reduce the acidity of the soil, which helps increase its fertility.

b) Mechanical digestion occurs in the mouth, stomach, and small intestine. Food is chemically changed indigestion when new, smaller substances are formed. These chemical changes are examples of chemical digestion. Chemical digestion begins in the mouth when enzymes in saliva begin to break down carbohydrates.

c) Copper is a ductile metal. This means that it can easily be shaped into pipes and drawn into wires. Copper pipes are lightweight because they can have thin walls. They don't corrode and they can be bent to fit around corners.

d) Ripening of fruits is a chemical change. During ripening the pigment present in the skin of the fruit changes and this can not be reversed back. it is a chemical change as once a fruit ripens it cannot turn raw again.

e) Ice is a unique substance because it is solid-state — ice — is less dense than its liquid state. Because of this property, ice floats in water. Physical properties are characteristics of a substance. They do not change. Physical properties include colour, smell, freezing/melting point, and density.

The picture shows a contractile vacuole of a unicellular freshwater organism. The contractile vacuole regulates the flow of wate
yuradex [85]

Answer:

A.The concentration of water is greater outside the cell than inside the cell.

Explanation:

The contractile vacuole of certain organisms functions to regulate water flow in and out of the cell. It does this by storing excess water that comes into the cell. In the case of this organism with a filled up contractile vacuole, it means water is flowing into the cell.

Naturally, water will flow into a living cell when an osmotic gradient i.e. difference in concemtration, has been created between intracellular and extracellular solutions. Osmosis involves movement of substances from a region of high water concentration to a region of low water concentration. This means that if water is flowing into the cell, which is stored by the contractile vacuole, the concentration of water must be greater outside the cell than inside.

Which of the following statements contains supporting evidence for the Big Bang Theory?
m_a_m_a [10]
Without the statements, I can't specifically answer your question. But, I can present the largest piece of evidence we have for the Big Bang Theory.

Over the course of many many years, we have noticed something. Everything is expanding outwards.

We can observe this, and realise that since things are expanding outwards, or, away from something, everything once came from a fixed point.

Life and the universe started from one point, and every single thing in our cosmos is still expanding away from it. =)

If the kinetic energy of a particle is equal to twice its rest mass, what is the velocity of the particle? Determine if relativi
ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

The velocity of the particle is 2 m/s,

Explanation:

Kinetic energy is defined as energy of the body due to its motion. It is given by :

K.E=\frac{1}{2}mv^2

Where :

m = mass of the object

v = velocity of the object

We have , particle with mass m and its kinetic energy is twice its mass.

K.E=2m

2m=\frac{1}{2}mv^2

v^2=\frac{4}{1}

v=2

And unit of velocity are m/s , so the velocity of the particle is 2 m/s.
