A=LW,

W=L/2, L=2W so:

A=(2W)W

A=2W^2 and A=34 so:

2W^2=34

W^2=17

W=√17, and since L=2W

L=2√17

So the length is 2√17 and the width is √17

(length≈8.25 and width≈4.12 if you wanted approximations...)

What is the area of the base of a cylinder with a volume of 174π in.3 and a height of 12 inches?
nataly862011 [7]

Answer:

The area of the base is 14.5π in²

Step-by-step explanation:

The volume of a cylinder is given by

Volume =base\:area \times height

Or

V=Bh

It was given that the volume of the cylinder is 174π in³.

The height was given as 12 inches.

We substitute to get,

174π=12B

Divide both sides by 12 to get:

B=14.5π in²

Hence the area of the base is 14.5π in²

What is the general form of the equation of a circle with center at (a, b) and radius of length m?
pochemuha
The equation of a circle with center (h,k) and radius r is
(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

convert it to that form by comleting the square for the x and y terms
or, we can just expand what we know

expand (x-a)^2+(y-b)^2=m^2 and make it equal to 0
so expanding we get
x^2-2ax+a^2+y^2-2by+b^2=m^2
minus m^2 from both sides
x^2-2ax+a^2+y^2-2by+b^2-m^2=0
arranging in decreasing power order with m² at the end
x^2+y^2-2ax+-2by+a^2+b^2-m^2=0
that is option A

answer is A

Give an example to show that subtraction does not follow the associative rule
Agata [3.3K]

(6 - 2) - 1 = 4 - 1 = 3

6 - (2 - 1) = 6 - 1 = 5

The associative rule doesn't work for subtraction because you get different results when you move the parentheses.
