P+Q=1000
Q+150=P
Plug (Q+150) for P.
(Q+150)+Q=1000
2Q=850
Divide both sides by 2.
Q=425
Now use 425 to find P.
425+P=1000
Subtract 425 from both sides.
P=575

Answer:

You are technically dividing by zero, it breaks math.

In the step (X+1)(X-1)=X-1 → X+1=1.

You divide (X+1)(X-1)=X-1 by (x-1) on both sides to get:

(x+1)(x-1) / (x-1) = (x-1) / (x-1).

Since x = 1,

(x + 1)(x - 1) / (x - 1) = (x - 1) / (x - 1)

becomes (2)(0) / 0 = 0 / 0.

And when you divide by zero, it's undefined since you cannot multiply a number by zero and get a number other than zero, it's undefinable.

This is where limits come in, when you divide by a variable, you have to assumed that is it ≠ 0.

You know that 1 ≠ 2, and 0 ≠ 1, and so on.

As dividing by zero approaches infinity,

1/0.1 = 10, 1/0.01 = 100, 1/0.001 = 1000, 1/0.00..1 = 1000.. → 1/0 → infinity.

1/-0.1 = -10, 1/-0.01 = -100, 1/-0.001 = -1000,

1/-0.00..1 = -1000.. → 1/0 → -infinity.

This suggests that dividing by zero should be infinity.

Therefore infinity = -infinity, Wrong.

When you are dividing, you are really asking yourself, how many times does this number fit into the other number.

1 cannot fit into 0, there isn't anything to fit into. This can also be thought of as:

1 = 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + ......

0 + 0 = 0, so 1 ≠ 0.

DO THE MATH

f(p) where p is the price in thousands. f(250) means the average number of days before being sold for $250,000. Lets take a look at the answers and see which fits the best:

1. The house sold for $250,000. (This is what the 250 stands for, but we need to find what f(250) means and not just 250)

2. The house stayed on the market for an average of 250 days before being sold. (Nope, not even close)

3. This is the average number of days the house stayed on the market before being sold for $250,000. (Yes! This seems right, f(250) is the average number of days before being sold for $250,000)

4. The house sold on the market for $250,000 and stayed on the market for an average of 250 days before being sold. (Nope, we are not told anywhere that it takes 250 days to be sold)

This means that our answer has to be 3) This is the average number of days the house stayed on the market before being sold for $250,000.

I hope I've helped! :)
