It was a hot summer day. Mattie poured herself a glass of lemonade. The lemonade was warm, so Mattie put some ice in the glass.

After 10 minutes, Mattie noticed that the ice was melting and the lemonade was
cold. Mattie wondered what made the lemonade get cold. She had three different ideas. Which idea do you think best explains why the lemonade got cold?

Answer:

The temperature tends to balance between the two systems (i.e., the lemonade and the ice)

Explanation:

The first law of thermodynamics (also known as the law of conservation of energy) states that energy of an isolated system remains constant, thereby the temperature will distribute in the system.

Answer: Here's the complete question;

A)the coldness from the ice moved into the lemonade

B) the heat from the lemonade moved into the ice

C) the coldness and heat moved back and forth until the lemonade cold off

Explain your thinking Describe the "rule" or reasoning you used for your answer.

The answer is B) the heat from the lemonade moved into the ice

Explanation: Heat is the energy transferred as a result of temperature difference between two system. It always flow from the higher temperature to the lower temperature. It never flows the other way. In this case the lemonade has the higher temperature than the ice, so heat flowed from the lemonade to the ice. As a result the lemonade is said to lose heat while the ice gained heat.

When heat is applied to a solid substance, for example ice, the bonds which holds it breaks and it undergoes a change in phase to become a liquid. This change in phase from solid to liquid is called melting.

The ice melted into water in the question given.

An example of an epigenetic change is
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

The correct answer is option d.

Explanation:

An illustration of epigenetic change is a microbe, which can stimulate modifications in the host DNA, causing suppression of defenses or weakening of individual cells. Epigenetic changes modify the physical composition of DNA.

One of the examples of epigenetic change is DNA methylation. DNA methylation refers to the supplementation of methyl group, which inhibits some of the genes from getting expressed. One of the conditions of DNA methylation is cancer.

In the majority of cancer, the tumor cells go through global hypomethylation. The tumor suppressed genes seem to turn highly methylated in the conditions of cancer.

A sample of gold (AU) has a mass of 57.01 g.
Kamila [148]

A). Calculation: Given mass of Au * 1mol of Au/molar mass of Au= # of moles ;

57.01 g Au*1 mole of Au/196.97g Au=0.3 moles of Au.  So the answer is 0.3 moles of gold(Au). Good luck on the rest,  and message me on Brainly if you need more help. I'll be happy to.
