A hot-air balloon is 150 feet above the ground when a motorcycle passes directly beneath it (traveling in a straight line on a h

orizontal road). The motorcycle is traveling at 40 mph. If the balloon is rising vertically at a rate of 10 ft/sec, what is the rate of change of the distance between the balloon and the motorcycle ten seconds later?

As you know that
a^2+b^2=c^2
2da/dt+2bdb/dt=2cdc/dt
change the units into ft/sec or miles per hour
so your da is the balloon rate, your db is the motorcycle rate.a is 150 feet,
b is 40 m/h x 10 secs, just plug it in to figure out c first. then dc/dt.

A charged particle enters into a uniform magnetic field such that its velocity vector is perpendicular to the magnetic field vec
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

The charged particle will follow a circular path.

Explanation:

The magnetic force exerted on the charged particle due to the magnetic field is given by:

F=qvB sin \theta

where

q is the charge

v is the velocity of the particle

B is the magnetic field

\theta is the angle between v and B

In this problem, the velocity is perpendicular to the magnetic field, so \theta = 90^{\circ}, sin \theta=1 and the force is simply

F=qvB

Moreover, the force is perpendicular to both B and v, according to the right-hand rule. Therefore, we have:

- a force that is always perpendicular to the velocity, v

- a force which is constant in magnitude (because the magnitude of v or B does not change)

--> this means that the force acts as a centripetal force, so it will keep the charged particle in a uniform circular motion. So, the correct answer is

The charged particle will follow a circular path.

a rectangular block weighs 240N. The area of the block in contact with the floor is 20cm2 calculate the pressure on the floor
Romashka [77]

Answer:

The pressure on the floor is 12 Pascal(Pa).

Explanation:

Given,

Force (F) = 240N

Area (A) = 20 cm^2

Pressure (P) = ?

we know that,

P = F/A

= 240/ 20

= 12 Pa
