A square has 4 sides of equal legnths
in your point of view, it looks tilted because it is actually a rhombus, a paralellogram (4 sided figure with 2 pairs of paralell sides) with 4 equal sides

to find the area, just multiply  base by height (look at ilustration/attachmtns)
